2024 Annual Member Meeting PPT

Increasing Membership Efforts

We’re actively working on expanding our membership base to strengthen our community, and membership has been steadily increasing from last year. However, Council membership currently covers only 4% of the total HUBZone Certified firms. We want to hear your thoughts on how we can bring more HUBZone-certified businesses into our network. If you have any ideas on increasing membership or would like to provide feedback on how we’re doing and areas we can improve, please share your insights through the link below. Your input is invaluable as we work to grow and enhance our community.

Legislative Achievements

This year has marked significant progress in our advocacy efforts.

For those who missed it, we—alongside our advocacy partners at Madison Services Group Inc.—collected your community feedback on the SBA HUBZone Rule Changes and submitted a comprehensive response on October 7th. To learn more about our ongoing Legislative Priorities and find out how you can get involved in creating change, please reach out at advocacy@hubzonecouncil.org.

Together, we can amplify our voices and impact positive change for HUBZone communities.

Marketing & Promotions

A robust marketing and promotion plan is underway to enhance our visibility and strengthen the HUBZone mission. This includes the AWARE Campaign, where we’re committed to making underrepresented communities A.W.A.R.E. of the resources and support available to them, ensuring they have the opportunities and tools necessary to thrive. Additionally, we’re expanding our reach through multiple media platforms with HUBZone Chronicles and HUBZone In Session, designed to keep our members informed with the latest updates and news. Check out our YouTube Channel:

We’re also celebrating the successes of our current members who are already supporting us. Through a new segment, HUBZone Spark, we’re sharing inspiring success stories nominated by our members, for our members. If you’d like to learn more about any of these initiatives, feel free to connect with one of our supporting members, Derek Barnby, CEO of Barnby Solutions, who has dedicated his expertise to helping the Council further our mission.

Member Resources

Innovative resource tools are making a real difference in helping the HUBZone community thrive. Tools like ValidatorPro, developed by our Board Member from AbsoluteGIS, provide essential address validation to ensure compliance and efficiency, streamlining day-to-day operations for our members. Additionally, B2B AutoConnects from TeamingPro—a valuable tool created by another Board Member—enhances networking and connection capabilities, empowering HUBZone businesses to connect with key partners and opportunities seamlessly.

These tools, built by HUBZone members for HUBZone members, are part of our commitment to supporting your success and growth in the HUBZone community.

Contracts/Grants

The HUBZone Council is excited to announce our first project proposal in collaboration with the Appalachian Regional Commission. This project is designed to align with the objectives of the HUBZone Council and meet the needs of our community. Our goal is to upskill job seekers in areas that are directly relevant to businesses participating in the SBA HUBZone Program. Through a tailored curriculum, innovative training methods, and a focus on practical skill development, we aim to empower residents with the tools they need to compete successfully in the job market and contribute to the economic vibrancy of the region.

Potential Partnership

The Council is actively exploring strategic partnerships with organizations that align with the HUBZone mission. These partnerships will provide our members with unique advantages, such as expanded networking opportunities, access to new markets, and collaborative events to further support our goals. One exciting prospect is a partnership with Handshake, which could offer our members an exclusive deal on this platform, enhancing their ability to connect with talent and broaden their reach. Please leave your thoughts and comments below.

Member Engagements

The Council is actively planning a range of initiatives tailored to bring you the information, topics, and resources that will best support our members. We want your input and engagement to help shape these offerings, whether it's through sharing ideas for sessions you’d like to see at the 2025 Conference or contributing to discussions within our Affinity Groups. Your feedback is invaluable, and we encourage everyone to participate and have a voice in building the future of our HUBZone community.
