ABOUT US

WHAT WE DO

The HUBZone Council advocates for policies that bring opportunities to the thousands of communities that lack capital investment on Capitol Hill and in federal agencies.  The Council’s policy team is active in promoting our agenda; however, any successful advocacy effort includes direct communications between constituents and their elected officials—that is where you come in.  As HUBZone certified companies, you are affected by government policies every day. Engagement with lawmakers in your home districts can make all the difference when advocating for meaningful changes to program and acquisition policies that impact federal buying.

WHY WE DO IT?

When first introduced, the HUBZone program promised to create opportunities for small businesses in low-income communities by helping entrepreneurs access the Federal marketplace. The philosophy was that the unemployed become employed, spending increases within distressed communities, and the benefits are shared by many. However, despite its many promises, the companies that have invested heavily in relocating or staffing their businesses within distressed areas are finding little or no returns on those investments. The Council believes that it will take a change in acquisition philosophy to truly make an impact within these under-served communities, but to do that, we need your HELP!

OUR FOCUS

Legislative Reform

Programs bound by regulatory and statutory requirements are only as effective as the laws that bind it. The Council has been working closely with Congressional representatives  on program refinements.

Don't wait for change, make it happen!

Economic & Community

Development

To many of the members of our organization, the HUBZone program is more than a federal contracting program; it is a means to facilitate job creation and economic growth within the communities that need it most.

Each one of us can make a difference. Together we can make a change

Barbara Mikulski

Increase HUBZone Spending

Since the government has never met its HUBZone goal of 3%, the HUBZone council is dedicated to fighting for better acquisition practices to maximize the ability to compete not to limit them.

"Growth is never by mere chance; it is the result of forces working together."

James Cash Penney, founder, JC Penney
