HUBZone Community & Industry Awards

HOW IT WORKS

All nominations must be submitted by Friday, December 6, 2019. 

The mission of the  HUBZone Program  is to promote job growth, capital investment, and economic development to historically underutilized business zones referred to as HUBZones by providing contracting assistance to small businesses located in these economically distressed communities. There are many ways  one can  make an impact, and we are looking forward to hearing yours! 

Step 1: Submit your Nomination:

Step 2: Evaluation : The HUBZone Council Economic Development Committee will determine winners based on the information submitted. 

Step 3: Notification : Award winners will be notified by Monday, December 23, depending on the number of responses the council may issue more than 1 award per category. The  awards will be presented at the HUBZone Industry Awards Gala at Morgan State University on January 17, 2020.  Each award winner will receive 1 free complimentary registration to the Gala (attendance is encouraged but not required to win)

We intend to post and share  ALL  of the nominations. To raise awareness and recognize each nominee's contributions to their community. If for any reason you do not wish for your nominations to be shared, please  let us know within the nomination and or send an email to info@hubzonecouncil.org.


GET CREATIVE 

It is encouraged to submit additional information to support your nominations to include videos or photos. If you intend to supplement your nomination with a  video or  podcast, we ask that you, please still complete the nomination form so that we may track everyone's submissions. When completing the nomination form merely reference that you will be submitting a podcast or video to support the nomination.

 HUBZone Small Business of the Year Rural America

Recognizes a HUBZone-certified company operating in Rural America (Non-Metro)  that have made significant contributions to improve the economic, educational, and/or social quality of its community.   Nominations will be evaluated based on the following aspects:

Economic & Social Impact
Workforce Training & Development
Community Involvement & Volunteerism
Innovation & Technological Advancements
JOB CREATION

WHO SHOULD SUBMIT?

Any certified HUBZone SBC operating within rural America (Non-Metro) this includes Tribal Land and Disaster Areas.

Please note  the council may decide to issue more than 1 award per category.

 HUBZone Small Business of the Year Urban America

Recognizes a HUBZone-certified company operating in Urban America (Metro)  that have made significant contributions to improve the economic, educational, and/or social quality of its community.   Nominations will be evaluated based on the following aspects:

Economic & Social Impact
Workforce Training & Development
Community Involvement & Volunteerism
Innovation & Technological Advancements

JOB CREATION

WHO SHOULD SUBMIT?

Any certified HUBZone SBC operating within Urban America (Metro) and BRAC’s

Please note the council may decide to issue more than 1 award per category. 

HUBZone Corporate Citizen

of the Year

Recognizes an individual living and working within a HUBZone Community that has made significant contributions to improve the economic, educational, and/or social quality of its community and promotes the values and spirit of the HUBZone Program. Nominations will be evaluated based on the following aspects: 

  • Social & Economic Impact
  • Volunteerism and Community Support 
  • Education & Outreach 
  • Workforce Training & Development

WHO SHOULD SUBMIT?   

This includes  owners, employees, community leaders, interns,  volunteers that have made a difference within their HUBZone community. 

Please note the council may decide to issue more than 1 award per category. 


HUBZone Agency or

Prime Contractor 

of the Year

Recognizes a Federal Agency and or Organization that has made significant contributions to improve the economic, educational, and/or social quality of the HUBZone Small Business Community. Nominations will be evaluated based on the following aspects: 

  • HUBZone Spending &   Procurement Practices
  • Education & Outreach
  • Teamwork & Mentorship 
  • Adherence to Small Business Subcontracting Plans
  • # of HUBZone Set-Aside Contracts  
  • Economic Impact

WHO SHOULD SUBMIT?  

This includes any buyer with a contract that requires small adherence to a small business subcontracting plan. Therefore it could be an Agency, Universities, Large Business, Small or Mid-Size Businesses, Non-Profit, etc….

Please note the council may decide to issue more than 1 award per category. 

HUBZone Community

of the Year

Recognizes a HUBZone Community that has demonstrated innovation and made significant contributions to improve the economic, educational, and/or social quality of its community and promotes the values and spirit of the HUBZone Program.

Nominations will be evaluated based on the following aspects:

  • Social & Economic Impact
  • Workforce Training & Development 
  • Education & Outreach 
  • Number of HUBZone Certified Companies 
  • Innovative Recruitment Tactics 
  • Tax Incentives

WHO SHOULD SUBMIT?   

This includes any community to include towns, counties, cities, BRAC's, Reservations , Settlements,  Disaster Zones  that have developed innovative approaches to leverage their HUBZone status to promote economic growth.

Please note the council may decide to issue more than 1 award per category. 


HUBZone Small Business

Resource Partner

of the Year Award

Recognizes a small business resource authority that has made significant contributions to improve the economic, educational, and/or social quality of the HUBZone Small Business Community.

Nominations will be evaluated based on the following aspects:

  • Knowledge & Promotion of the HUBZone Program
  • Recruitment & Support for New HUBZone-Certified Companies
  • Workforce Training and Development
  • Training & Educational Programs
  • Strategic Development Support

WHO SHOULD SUBMIT?  

This includes any resource authority with the mission to support the small business community to include but not limited to:  Workforce Development, Economic Development Authorities, SBA, SBDC, SCORE, Non-Profits, Chambers, PTAC’s etc.
