    The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) has released a solicitation for preclinical development of lead candidate therapeutics, vaccines and related countermeasures against select pathogens, including SARS-CoV-2. The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovation (CEPI) seeks partner organizations to establish decentralized assays of immune responses to COVID-19 vaccine candidates.

    Partnerships for Countermeasures against Select Pathogens (R01 Clinical Trials Not Allowed)

    Description: The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to solicit research applications for milestone-driven projects focused on preclinical development of lead candidate therapeutics, vaccines and related countermeasures against select NIAID Emerging Infectious Diseases/Pathogens. Applications must include a Product Development Strategy attachment and demonstrate substantive investment by at least one industrial participant.

    Centralized laboratory for measurement of immune responses elicited by SARS-CoV-2 vaccine candidates

    Description: CEPI is looking for partner organizations with which to establish centralized laboratory assays of immune responses to the many COVID-19 vaccine candidates so that data on these vaccines can be meaningfully compared to determine their efficacy.

    Topics: Types of studies that pre-approved providers might be asked to perform could include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • ELISA assays
    • Wild type (BSL-3) and pseudo-virus neutralisation assays (BSL-2)
    • T-cells ELISPOT assays

    CoVent-19 Challenge

    The CoVent-19 Challenge is an open innovation 8-week ventilator design and prototyping for engineers, innovators, designers, and makers. The two round challenge aims to create ventilator CAD assemblies by May 1, 2020 (Round 1: General Admission) and functional prototypes demonstrating acceptable performance by June 1, 2020 (Round 2: Invitation Only).
